Opening Our Doors: A Fortnight of Connection, Celebration and Community. September 2025.

It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks at Progress to Change, with a fantastic run of visits and events that really showcased the heart of what we do. We kicked things off with a visit from the Lord-Lieutenant of Leeds, followed by a vibrant Stakeholder Open Day at Ripon House, and rounded things off with a warm welcome from Cardigan House to the Lord Mayor of Leeds. We love having visitors, it’s a great chance to share the positive impact of our work and build stronger connections with our community and partners. A huge thank you to all the staff who helped make it happen; your energy and commitment made these moments truly special.

A Warm Welcome to Ed Anderson CBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Leeds.

We were really pleased to welcome Ed Anderson CBE to Ripon House. As the Lord-Lieutenant, Ed represents the King in West Yorkshire, and it was great to have him spend time with our team and residents. With his background in business and charity work, Ed has a strong connection to the local community, and it was clear he genuinely cared about the work we’re doing. His visit gave us a chance to share the positive changes happening here and the difference our support makes.

Celebrating Community at Our Stakeholder Open Day

To round off a first great week, we held a Stakeholder Open Day at Ripon House. We invited partners and supporters to come and see what we do, hear from both past and current residents, and learn more about their personal experiences and the transformative support they have received while at Ripon House, and the day was full of so many powerful stories. We even had a sing-along in the garden led by James Day, who runs music sessions with our residents. It was a joyful, moving event that brought everyone together. We also heard from organisations like Active Leeds and Smart Works, who shared how working together helps us support people more effectively.

Connecting with the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Dan Cohen

Last but not least, we had the pleasure of hosting Councillor Dan Cohen, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, at Cardigan House. It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about the challenges and successes of our rehabilitation interventions and how we can work more closely with local services. The Lord Mayor’s interest and support really highlighted how important it is for civic leaders to be involved in helping people rebuild their lives.

Looking Ahead

These visits reminded us how vital it is to work together to support people on their journey to change. Having Ed Anderson and Councillor Dan Cohen with us was a real honour, and their support means a lot. At Progress to Change, we’re committed to building safer, more inclusive communities, and we know we can’t do it alone.
